Feed Your Skin!
Your skin is the largest organ in your body. Unlike armor, your skin actually absorbs what it comes into contact with. We nourish the inside of our body with food, why not our skin? Using dried ingredients to create our products preserves nutrient density, and does not require the use of preservatives. We approach each blend like we would a healthy meal. Each ingredient must be totally organic, posess critical nutrients that feed the skin, and smell and taste incredible. Our scrubs use local honey, supporting small bee colonies that have survived the recent die-off of so many. Unlike exfoliating plastic beads found in many products, and consequently inside fish, our scrub relies on the coarseness of ground grains, which soften in water, biodegrade naturally, and contribute to the nutrients in our waterways, contributing to nature’s food chain.
The Yummy Scrub Story
As I emerged from seven years of intense mothering, finally weaning my third child, and taking a look in the mirror to ask the question, “who am I now?” I was aghast at what I saw. I entered motherhood a size four, wrinkle free, and with six pack abs. What I saw looking back at me was an exhausted face, worry lines, an overweight, over-used body, and hair that had the “just keep it out of my face” cut. Don’t get me wrong, being a mother is incredible, and I still am not sure how the universe granted me my three beautiful children. I love my newfound “layer of softness”. But just like many mothers at this stage, I had begun to find a few minutes to focus on myself, and what I saw frankly needed more than a few minutes worth of tender loving care!
In my search for effective solutions, my first scrub mixture, now called Brown Sugar, transformed my skin into its former smooth self, literally sanding off years of neglect. I was so amazed that I mixed up more and gave it to my friends and family. They loved it so much that I determined that I should develop it into a product, and create more blends. Many times we have heard that phrase that we shouldn’t put anything onto our skin that we wouldn’t put into our bodies. As I began to search for solutions for my own skin, I kept that in mind. My children are my testers, and the scrubs have all passed as “delicious”! My children are my whole world, and I assure you that I will not put anything in Yummy Scrub products that I would not feed to them…although they are suspicious of the brownies and know that they are “healthy brownies” so simply will not humor me by trying them!

Our planet’s ecosystem is in trouble, and we have to do something about it. We are tackling the plastic waste issue head-on, as well as the elimination of toxins and chemicals from our ingredients. The transport of goods is also a huge contributor to pollution. We hope to establish customers around the world, and to set up shop in local areas, creating our products with locally sourced ingredients. Do you think that your area could use a product line like Yummy Scrub? Our vision is to have mixing bars where customers can create their own blends, much like the bulk food section in a grocery store.
